Hybrid fiber reinforced concrete special shear wall boundary element in compression

Post-earthquake observations and laboratory tests reveal the needs for innovative solutions that can enhance concrete compression ductility in boundary elements of special structural walls. This study proposes a new element design by utilizing hybrid fiber reinforced (HyFRC). One full-scale HyFRC is tested uniaxial compared to three conventional are compliant with ACI-318 codes. Results demonstrate replacing (1) control early-stage surface damage, (2) improve confinement core, (3) delay onset longitudinal bar buckling. Relative elements, which lose load capacity after spalling, exhibits unique post-spalling plateau improves toughness more than 150%.
